CarteFi was built by finance professionals -- bookkeepers, controllers, and small-business owners who spent years living inside accounting software instead of just reading about it.

Every month we watched the same invoice arrive: a subscription that cost more than it did last year, for a product we used a fraction of. We were paying for tiers stuffed with features we would never touch, priced as if every business needed all of them.

QuickBooks became the default not because it was the best tool for any one business, but because it was the tool everybody already knew. Prices climbed. Bundles grew. The path to leave got quietly harder every year -- your data locked behind proprietary formats, your workflows shaped around someone else's roadmap.

So we looked at the alternatives. Most were either a thin clone of the same tiered playbook or a barebones app that fell over the moment real double-entry accounting was required. Nothing respected the two things we cared about most: getting the accounting genuinely right, and only charging for what a business actually uses.

CarteFi is modular by design. Invoicing, bills, expenses, time tracking, project accounting, sales tax, reporting -- each is its own module you can turn on when you need it and leave off when you don't. You assemble the accounting system your business actually requires, and you pay for exactly that. Nothing more.

This is not a marketing gimmick bolted onto a bundle. It is the core of how the product is built and priced. Per-module pricing is our competitive advantage, and we would rather earn a smaller, honest bill every month than a bloated one you resent.

Your books are your business. We will never sell, share, or monetize your financial data. Full data export -- in CSV, JSON, or QuickBooks-compatible formats -- is free on every plan and always will be. Reporting fundamentals are never paywalled.

We hold ourselves to real accounting discipline: immutable journal entries, double-entry that must balance, a tamper-proof audit trail, and strict isolation between every customer's data. The correctness of your books is not a feature we upsell. It is the floor.

We are a small team that would rather do one thing honestly than ten things loudly. CarteFi is still early, and we are building it alongside the accountants and business owners who use it -- their feedback shapes what we ship next.
